In June 2004, in partnership with Marketing Technology Solutions (MTS), dLife conducted a pilot study of people with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and their family members/caregivers:
Over 71% of respondents (patients & family members!) wish that there was one trusted source they could turn to for all their diabetes information in all media forms.
Over 73% of respondents, indicated they would "Very Likely" or "Likely" tune in weekly to watch a regularly scheduled television show about diabetes offering useful information, inspiring stories and more.
In November 2004, under the supervision of Emmy Award winner Erik Sorenson, dLife executive producer (and former president of MSNBC), dLife gathered various talent and audience members in New York City to test the optimum format for the dLife TV show. Both live audience and online survey participants, expressed tremendous enthusiasm for a weekly diabetes television program that not only delivers information and inspiration relative to the diabetes condition, but more importantly, talks to them and provides a sense of community.
